1738: Scarce example of dated Youghal delft
An extremely scarce Youghal delft plate. Decorated with the initials of a
person "M.H" and the year 1738 within three concentric circles. Evidence
suggests that Youghal produced delft from 1738 to 1751. This early
example is one of very few known bearing a date. Many early trials were
made for local families and this is most probably the case with this
particular example. Its design corresponds with two other known plates

design.
