Noel Alexandro (1639-1724), French historian, Dominican and
theologian. This commentary on one hundred and sixty Gospels, for
Sundays and feast-days, and on the New Testament Epistles, has
frequently been re-edited in various forms.

marbled boards: with a small name stamp in three places, but

John Fitzgibbon, First Earl of Clare (1749-1802), appointed Lord
Chancellor in 1789, Clare was a controversial figure in Irish history, a
key figure in the Protestant ascendancy, a staunch opponent of Catholic
emancipation and an early supporter of union.
