The present work formed part of the first exhibition in Ireland dedicated exclusively to the
celebration of le Brocquyʼs work in the medium of watercolour.The show traced his
development from the “spare, spectral Presencesof the 1950s and 1960s to the
psychological archaeology of his Headscreated in the 1970s and 1980s, culminating with
the current series of Beings.” (Taylor Galleries, October 1998, introduction to
catalogue).The present example belongs to the “recent work” category and is listed within
