The Virgin Prunes. Collection of Photographs and
Ephemera 1977-1986
The Virgin Prunes was an Irish post-punk band formed in
1977. They disbanded in 1986 after the departure of singer
Gavin Friday. The other members continued under the
name The Prunes until they split up in 1990. One of the
band, Guggi (Derek Rowan) went on to a successful career
as an artist and another, Gavin Friday, is a well known singer
and composer. This collection comprises over 70
photographs (about 20 in colour, rest monochrome), mainly
8 x 10 inches, some larger, which capture the bizarre
anarchy of the band both on and off stage, also two floppy
singles, tickets, posters, stickers etc., some duplication.
