Kernof visited Canada for six months in 1957 at
the invitation of a Canadian businessman, whom
he met and befriended in the Bailey pub. He
completed approximately thirty works there and
they all sold in the Hendriks Gallery in 1958,
including this oil and pastel of West River Falls.
This painting was subsequently in the Jeferson
Smurft Collection and has been in another
private collection since 2004.
