The title of this sculpture derives from the organisation
Peace People founded in 1976 by Betty Williams,
Mairead Corrigan and Ciaran McKeown in response to
tragic events witnessed by Williams in Northern Ireland
that year. Subsequent to their fght for peace and the
public’s overwhelming response to their eforts, Williams
and Corrigan became the joint recipients of the Nobel
Peace Prize in 1977 (the prize for 1976).
