19th Century: Collection of Orange Order sashes and badges
Three good examples of Orange Order sashes complete with numerous
white metal badges and silk ribbons including St. Aidan's Church L.O.L.
1457 badge etc. Also with a decorative single page manuscript poem
"The Orange and Blue" relating to Ulster and Home Rule, signed and
dated "J.B. / August 19th 1895 / Hampton, Virgina USA". An interesting
piece of Scotch-Irish American ephemera. (4 items)

19th Century: "We Will Not Have Home Rule" glass and Edward
Carson bust
Scarce early anti-Home Rule glass decorated on both sides with the
words "We Will Not Have Home Rule" surrounded by laurel detail. Also
with a small white and blue bust of Edward Carson decorated with the
words "Ulster Will Fight & Ulster Will Be Right". An interesting pair.

1914: Ulster Volunteer Force orders and notices issued by Colonel G.

Letterpress, various sizes. A scarce collection of printed orders issued in
1914 to the Ulster Volunteer Force, including an orders relating to the
formation of the 36th (Ulster) Division for service during the First World
War and the carrying of arms. 12 September, 1p, General UVF orders
relating to the administration of the new 'Ulster (Service) Division',
Clandeboye Camp and Ballykinlar Camp. 4 July, 1p, Special orders for
protection of arms during 12 July celebrations. 27 June, 1p, order from
Sir Edward Carson relating to the carrying of arms openly by members
with or without a license and to resist any attempt by police or others to
seize them. Undated, 4pp, suggestions for Battalion supply and transport
duties. (5 items)

Menu for luncheon given by the Lord Mayor of Belfast in honour of
Henry Hughes Wilson after the Presentation of the Freedom of the City
of Belfast. Signed by Wilson, W. F. Coates, the Lord Mayor, the Marquess
of Londonderry, the Marchioness of Dufferin and others. 7 x 4.50in.

1922: Harland & Wolff silver presentation cigarette case to Lord
Mayor of Belfast
Large cigarette case hallmarked Chester 1918. Engraved "Presented to J.
H. Norritt Esq., General Secretary The Harland & Wolff Recreation and
Athletic Association Belfast in recognition of loyal services 1922."
Sir James Henry Norritt was born in 1888 the son of a Canadian father
and an Irish mother. He was raised in Antrim and Down and worked as a
clerk. He became involved in politics and in 1913 signed the Ulster
Covenant. He served as Deputy Lord Mayor for Belfast from 1948-49 and
was Lord Mayor for the Ulster Unionist Party from 1951 to 1953. In
1953 Norritt was knighted and passed away in 1963 being buried in
Dundonald Cemetery.

Extremely scarce 1914-15 Trio awarded to Pte V. J. MacMullen, South
Irish Horse killed in action
1914-15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal officially named to
1256 Pte. V. MacMullen S. Ir. H.
Private Victor James MacMullen the son of Michael and Elizabeth
MacMullen of Montenotte, Cork served in France from September 1915
with A Squadron South Irish Horse. He died 2 October 1916 and is buried
in Heilly Station Cemetery, France. Only 40 members of the South Irish
Horse died during the First World War. A desirable and scarce group of
medals.

1914-15 Trio to Private Peter Sinton, Irish Guards, who died in 1916
1914-15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal officially named to
4712 Pte. P. Sinton Ir. Gds.
Peter Sinton was born in Jedburgh, Scotland in 1891 and enlisted in the
Irish Guards in February 1914. He was sent to France later that year with
the 1st Battalion and was admitted to hospital in Etaples with
respiratory problems which was later diagnosed as tuberculosis, which he
had contracted in the trenches. He died at home in December 1915 aged
25 and was buried in Jedburgh Cemetery.
