Silver plate. An interesting piece acquired by a member of the 101st
Airborne from the Platterhof Hotel in Obersalzberg, which was run by

1947 (29 April) Albert Einstein signed letter to Ireland
Typescript and manuscript. An extremely scarce and desirable letter in
English signed by Albert Einstein, the German-born Theoretical Physicist
and Nobel Prize winner on “Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists”
headed paper. Sent to an Irish recipient and enclosing a copy of
Explaining the Atom
by Selig Hecht which Einstein refers to as “an
authoriative account of the scientific steps, both theoretical and
experimental, that have led to our present knowledge of nuclear
fission.... from this book the discerning reader can gain the information
necessary to form an independent opinion on the practical problems of
atomic energy confronting the world today” Also with the edition of
Explaining the Atom
