1979: Pope John Paul II visit to Ireland press photographs collection
An excellent collection of Irish Press photographs. Placed in an album
and arranged in chronological order. Including the Pope’s arrival at
Dublin Airport, Phoenix Park mass, the Papal entourage, the Pope with
Patrick Hillery, at the Papal Nunciature, the Dominican Convent Cabra,
Cardinal O’Fiaich and Archbishop Ryan, at Clonmacnoise, Ballybrit,
Knock, Maynooth and the departure from Shannon Airport. Also other
loose photographs of the Pope during the visit. Unique. (68 items)

1988: Joe Pilkington painting of Charles Haughey
Canvas on board painting of controversial Taoiseach by Joe Pilkington
(1941-1999). Pilkington was made famous for his portrayal of Eamon in
the RTÉ television series, The Riordans. He retired to Galway and
dedicated his time to art while occasionaly returning to the stage and
screen.

and instantly recognisable glasses. Used on the ITV television program
Spitting Image
which ran from 1986 to 1994. Adams was regularly
featured on the show, particularly at the time of the broadcasting ban
on Sinn Féin members. A unique item.

Painted on board made of matchsticks. Made by “Official IRA” prisoner
in Crumlin Road Jail, later kept in a shed in Ballyfermot, Dublin where
official IRA members met regularly until the 1990s. Rare.

1970s: Christy Burke Portlaoise prisoner handkerchief artwork
Artwork on linen cloth handkerchief titled “Free Our Country Cumann na
mBan...To Sam & Margaret from Christy Burke Political Prisoner
Portlaoise”. Christy Burke is an Independent city councilor and former
member of Sinn Fein. He served two terms in Portlaoise Prison in the
1970s on charges of IRA membership.

1971: Royal Engineers Long Kesh presentation stick
An interesting piece relating to the early history and opening of Long
Kesh for internment. With white metal pommel decorated with Royal
Engineers crest and inscribed “WO II B. Longworth B.E.M. R.E., 33 Field
Sqdrn. R.E., Long Kesh, From the Officers, Sep 1971.” Brian Longworth
was awarded the British Empire Medal in 1958 and later reached the
rank of Captain. 32 x 3in. (81.28 x 7.62cm)

A pair of framed Long Kesh prisoner art handkerchiefs by Paul Curran.
The first with a portrait of James Connolly flanked by quotes from Jim
Larkin and Terence MacSwiney. The second with a cross surrounded by
the names of deceased IRA volunteers. Also with another later framed
