iv, 1052, 2 vols, roy 8vo, strongly bound in contemporary half
calf, gilt lettered spines: light water stain on some of the plates
in the second volume and the binding a little rubbed at corners
but still sound and very strong: a very good copy.
Inspired by the Great Exhibition, this is one of the best of all
encyclopaedias on the great industries of the nineteenth century. The
illustrations of the various trades, their processes and machinery, are
some of the finest ever made.
