circular stamp on title and with the usual browning of text: a
very good, attractively bound copy with the armorial bookplate
of Edward Odell (‘Quantum in rebus inane’) and neat, very
legible pencil notes signed “E. O” on the front flyleaves
regarding the provenance of the book.

frontispieces engraved by William Blake after Della Rosa,
pages xxxvi, 223 and errata leaf: (4), 236 and leaf of errata,
complete with half-titles, 2 vols, 8vo, contemporary mottled
calf, gilt ruled sides, fully gilt spines, inside gilt borders, with
double green lettering pieces: the spines rubbed and two labels
chipped but the bindings sound and very strong, light foxing of
endleaves, but otherwise in bright, fresh state: a very good to
nice copy.
Bentley 441. ‘Very rare … not recorded before. ‘ - Keynes. However,
both Brunet and Lowndes note the book, but not the Blake connection.
The first complete English translation with Latin and English texts on
facing pages. Nott (1751–1825), physician. The publication of The
poems of Catullus, 1795, sealed his reputation as a gifted classicist and
poet. Though admired by some for the precision and neatness of his
language, his scholarship was dismissed by Charles Lamb and
Algernon Swinburne as superficial and pedantic (ODNB).

2 vols, folio, contemporary calf: the headbands worn and the
bindings a little scratched and worn at the corners but sound
and strong and otherwise a very good copy with the Tervoe
bookplate.
The first uniform abridgment since Pulton. It includes at length the
two books of custom rates (those of Grimston and of Compton), and a
table of sheriff ’s fees.

unpressed copy.
Edward Chaloner (1601-1625), principal of Alban Hall, Oxford and
Fellow of All Souls. A decidedly uncommon book first published in 4to
in 1625, reissued in the same format later in the same year and here
first published in 12mo: STC 4935 notes four copies in the US. It is
dedicated to William Herbert, Earl of Pembroke, amongst others. The
appended sermon `Unde Zizania? The originall and progresse of
heresie. Handled and applyed before his late majestie at Theobals. An.
Dom. 1624’, carries a separate title-page.
