John Stirling (or Sterling) published his System of Rhetoric in the 1730s,
but the earliest edition traced in ESTC is the fourth of 1744, and of
Holmes’s work 1738. Both were probably the most popular and most
widely-used works on rhetoric in the 18C. COPAC and WorldCat locate
only the BL copy of this Dublin printing. Not in D on-line. See Alston

wrapper: the stitching loose snd the wrappers chipped and worn
but still a good to very good copy in original state.
WorldCat and COPAC locate only a single copy: BL. That copy,
however, extends to page 68 only and does not include the two final
leaves, paged (69) – 72 containing “Amendments”. The latest date
quoted on these two leaves is 1828 while the latest reference in the body of
the work is to “1 & 2 Will. 4” which would date publication to about
1832 – the BL entry suggest [1825?].

Lowe, Arnott, Robinson 1709. The best contemporary account. Though
well represented in ESTC it is very uncommon in commerce: in fifty
years we have handled only one other copy and there is only one auction
record. The title-page statement notwithstanding, the narrative does not
extend beyond 1774.
