FIRST EDITION, with 15 plates, 6 maps (4 folding) and 123
full-page and other illustrations, pages xiii, 505, (1), 8vo, original
half-calf over marbled boards: light crease in the upper board,
the ocasional spot of foxing, but still a very good copy.
In 1870 Nordenskiöld attempted to cross Greenland from Disko Island,
but was unsuccessful. On this second expedition in 1883 he succeeded in
taking his ship through the great ice barrier, a feat attempted in vain
over the previous three centuries. He also managed to reach a point in
the interior about seventy-five miles from Aulatsivik Ford.

A reply by the Earl concerning the liabilities of a husband for the debts
of his wife. It is represented in NSTC by L only: however, COPAC adds
LSE and Bristol.
