Assumption, Grahamstown, South Africa.
Barbara Greig was born in Cape Town in 1920 but relocated to
England to study at the School of Art,York. She began working in
ceramics in the early 1950s and is best known for her work in this
medium. From 1962 she lived in Johannesburg, previously in
Pretoria and Port Elizabeth. Pretoria Art Museum hold an example
by her in their collection. Her husband was Desmond Greig (b.1926)
sculptor, painter, published poet and author. During her lifetime
Barbara Greig exhibited widely in South Africa, the USA and Europe
and her works can be found in private and public collections
internationally. She died in Oudtshoorn in November, 2004.
