(25.4 by 35.6cm) Provenance: Acquired directly from the Bruen family, Oak Park Estate Co. Carlow; Thence by descent Henry Bruen of Oak Park Estate Co. Carlow was a lieutenant in the Royal Artillery. The estate was purchased by Irish MP Henry Bruen in 1775 and remained in the family until 1957. The present collection of watercolours includes Co. Carlow scenes and other Irish locations as well as several Egyptian locations among them Karnak and Cairo. Others include The Sudan, Tenerife, Portugal (including a view from Lord Byron’s Room in the Lawrence Hotel, Sintra), Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Panama. An interesting and beautifully preserved visual record of an Irishman’s travels in the first two decades of the 20th century. €300-€400 (£210-£290 approx.)
