(24.1 by 18.4cm) Sheet size: 13 by 10in. Dante Alighieri’s The Divine Comedy was illustrated by Dali between 1951 and 1960 initially as a commission from the Italian government. He created 101 watercolours on the theme which were later reproduced using a wood engraving technique. Editions were published in French, Italian and German. Each woodblock from the series is part of a Canto or chapter. The present lots are from the French edition and are accompanied by the text from their respective Canto. €800-€1,200 (£570-£860 approx.)
