208 Saralene Ann Tapley (Irish-American, b.1977) TRAIN TRACKS [DIPTYCH], 2000 oil and collage on tinted paper signed and dated 25 by 82in. (63.5 by 208.3cm) Born in the US, Saralene Tapley relocated often in her young life from the United States to Taiwan, Korea, Dublin and London. Irish-American, she studied for her BA at NCAD between 1995 and 1999 and her MA at University of Houston-Clear Lake, Texas. Working predominantly in drawing and painting her early work tapped into her visual experiences of Taiwan and Korea, and later expressed the vibrancy of Irish social life through bright colour. Work produced on her relocation to Texas focused on portraiture, the individual and community. Tapley’s work has featured in numerous exhibitions in Ireland and the US and she has a strong parallel career as an art educator. €400-€600 (£350-£530 approx.)
