IMPORTANT IRISH ART · 28 MAY 2018 AT 6PM 217 Saralene Ann Tapley (Irish-American, b.1977) HANGERS, 1999 oil and collage on card signed and dated lower left 24.75 by 35in. (62.9 by 88.9cm) Born in the US, Saralene Tapley relocated often in her young life from the United States to Taiwan, Korea, Dublin and London. Irish-American, she studied for her BA at NCAD between 1995 and 1999 and her MA at University of Houston-Clear Lake, Texas. Working predominantly in drawing and painting her early work tapped into her visual experiences of Taiwan and Korea, and later expressed the vibrancy of Irish social life through bright colour. Work produced on her relocation to Texas focused on portraiture, the individual and community. Tapley’s work has featured in numerous exhibitions in Ireland and the US and she has a strong parallel career as an art educator. €200-€300 (£180-£260 approx.)
