(55.2 by 74.3cm) Born in Dublin, Shaw-Smith obtained a BA in printmaking from NCAD and a master’s in fine art from Byam Shaw School of Art, London. He paints and prints with a semi-naive style, which highlights the slightly surreal nature of his work. Of his work for the CAP Foundation Award which he received in 2001 he has said, “…I prefer to see the two sides of the Liffey not as opposites but of black and white, but more perhaps like the black and white of Chinese Ying and Yang, in that one depends on the other and contains something of the other” He was awarded the Lemonstreet Gallery Printing Award in 2001 also. In 2004 Shaw-Smith was Artist in Residence in Draíocht. €150-€200 (£130-£180 approx.) Click Here for Large Images & To Bid Lot 227
