The Segal Collection of Harry Kernoff 46 Harry Kernoff RHA (1900-1974) ABSTRACT COLLECTION watercolours; (26); photograph; (1); woodcut; (1); manifesto; (1) woodcut signed and titled in green ink; photograph dated verso; Provenance: Acquired directly from the artist by Jack Segal; Thence by family descent All watercolours are executed on recycled exhibition cards to Kernoff shows held in Dublin in the 1950s. Geometric motifs and designs based on the Star of David are dominant in the collection while the overall style and colours are typical of Kernoff’s explorations in this genre. The collection of original watercolours is accompanied by signed woodcut, Extensions in Time and Space, a photograph of the artist in his studio before a large abstract picture among other works (dated Sunday, June 18th 1961) and a printed manifesto by Kernoff with hand annotations/edits outlining his views on Abstract and Subjective art.
