History THE ECLECTIC COLLECTOR · 15 SEPTEMBER AT 11AM 94 1916 Rising Service Medal to a member of the GPO garrison. Awarded to Michael Giffney, IRA Dublin Brigade, 2nd Battalion, F Company (Fairview), who initially served at Clonliffe Road and Portland Row on Easter Monday and then was in the GPO for the remainder of the Rising. He was wonded by a ricochet bullet in Henry Place. He was treated in Dublin Castle. He was interned in Kilmainham and Stafford jails and Frongoch Camp (Prisoner 1533, Hut 17). Copies of his service record accompany the medal. Also included is the original box of issue, President’s compliment slip, Department of Defence letter with flash, and original Award of Pension certificate issued in 1935.
