(38.1 by 20.3 by 17.8cm) Provenance: Hallward Gallery, Dublin; Where purchased by the present owner Exhibited: ‘Group Show’, Hallward Gallery, Dublin, Summer 2002, catalogue no. 100 Three Jolly Pigeons was the name of a public house that provided the setting for Oliver Goldsmith’s renowned play She Stoops to Conquer, written in 1773. “Then come, put the jorum about, And let us be merry and clever, Our hearts and our liquors are stout, Here’s the Three Jolly Pigeons for ever.
