P Dixon Hardy, Dublin, 1835, quarto, 24pp, thirteen plates all present, illustrated buff paper wrappers. The Dublin and Kingstown Railway which opened in 1834, was Ireland’s first railway. It linkedWestland Row in Dublin with Kingstown Harbour (renamed Dun Laoghaire in 1922). The line was extended to Dún Laoghaire station’s current location using the then existing Dalkey Quarry industrial tramway cutting (‘The Metals’) used to ferry granite for the building of the harbour. The line later included the Dalkey Atmospheric Railway branch. In 1854 the lines were leased to the Dublin, Wicklow andWexford Railway who changed the original standard gauge to the wider Irish gauge.The line is now part of the DART route. President, Andrew Fitzgerald of St. Patrick’s College, Carlow; the Honourable and Venerable Archdeacon of Leighlin, Henry Scott Stopford. Some names among the other clergy are - George Simpson Benson, Stewart Legar French, WilliamWinslow Berry, Thomas Mercer Vigors, Fredrick Eyre Trench, David McTaggart, Dawson Massey, et al.
