Comprising of penny, sixpence, one shilling and two shillings. Used by Allied and Axis prisoners held at the Curragh internment camp during the Emergency. A piece of shrapnel recovered from Donore Terrace, Terenure following its bombing by German aircraft on January 1, 1914, bearing an indistinct paper label and a military identity disk inscribed ‘NO 7 - Donore Terrace - Dublin - 3/1/41’. The Irish Times, Saturday, January 4, 1941 reports that Mr Edward Plant, whose house at Rathdown Park, Terenure was demolished on Thursday [January 2] formerly lived at 93 Donore Terrace, South Circular Road, one of the two houses demolished in Friday’s [January 3] bombing. There was no loss of life in the bombings but the Irish Times reports that a dead parrot was found in one house.
