Marie Howet travelled frequently abroad, including a visit to Ireland in the mid-1920s with a solo show of her work held in the Gresham Hotel in Dublin 1927. It is thought that Drogheda artist Nano Reid was influenced by a visit to an exhibition of the Belgian artist’s work in 1937 encouraging her own boldly linear, highly subjective mode of representation.
