Thomas Ashe motor cycles raffle ticket The raffle was to take place on St. Patrick’s Day for two of Ashe’s motor cycles - one which he used prior to and during the Rising, and the other a new bike he bought after his release in 1917, prior to his re-arrest. Part proceeds to the Ashe Memorial Hall Fund, price one shilling. Family of Thomas & Nora Ashe; Private collection. Condition: Very good. Content refers to Stack’s refusal to accept a gift of a book that his friend Thomas Ashe treasured and apologises to Nora for displeasing her by not accepting it. Other remarks include “ I have read of all the arrests. John Bull is an ass”. With Belfast postmarked envelope, stamp removed. Condition: Letter very good, envelope distressed.
