168 History 315 1960-1963 President John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Vice President Lyndon Baines Johnson - a pair of drawings. Kennedy’s drawing on paper embossed with the Presidential Seal ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE showing six interconnected arrows, three small sailboats, initialled “JK” and inscribed “United Nations, War in 1947 with Arabs”, 4.25 by 7.25 inches; Lyndon Johnson’s drawing, on Untied States Senate notepaper, 10.5 by 8 inches depicts a masonic style symbol of a man ‘s head and shoulders in a triangle with a chimney above, with below an hourglass and another face in a triangle. Collection of Congressman Michael J. Kirwan, longtime friend of President Kennedy; Collection of John Burke Jovich, well-known US Presidential historian, friend and neighbour of Congressman Kirwan. Condition: Very good. 2020 is the 60th Anniversary of the Kennedy Presidency. Kennedy was familiar with the Arab Israel conflicts as he reported on them for the Chicago Herald and for International News Service in the 1940s. This drawing is an obvious reference to further Middle East problems that were on his agenda as US President. Lyndon B. Johnson was initiated into the first degree of Freemasonry – “Entered Apprentice”, October 30, 1937 in Johnson City Lodge No. 561, at Johnson City, Texas, but did not advance any further and did not become a full member of his lodge. He was made an Honorary Grandmaster of The Order of Demolay in 1975. DeMolay International, founded in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1919, is an international fraternal organisation for young men ages 12 to 21.
