6 History 1 1220-1140BC. Bronze Age sword, Wilburton-Wallington Phase. Bronze two edged sword with lentoid-section lanceolate blade and stepped edges, notched ricasso, waisted hilt with T-shaped finial, 6 holes for attachment of a wooden grip. A fine example of this sword, stated to have been originally found in Co. Monaghan. Condition: Very good, polished, attractive patina de cabinet, small edge knocks towards the tip. With an Arts Council England export licence, 3 July 2019. Note: this sword was stated by a previous auctioneer to have been originally found in Co. Monaghan but we have not been able to confirm this origin.
