The 1782 Club was founded in 1844 to celebrate the memory of Irish legislative independence in 1782 John O’Connell; Thence by descent to the present owner. Condition: Some pulled threads, lining separating, very good. This is one of three recorded - one was sold at Whyte’s in 2001, and another example is in the National Museum, Dublin. Family tradition held that this coat had belonged to Daniel O’Connell. It is of small size, however, and is far more likely to have belonged to his son John.
