62 History 85 1882. Boycott campaign poster - Apology to The People of Ireland. A forced apology poster: “Apology to The People of Ireland. I do hereby acknowledge I carried Four Bags of Oats for Pat Doyle’s bit of money, for which I am sorry, and hope the people will forgive me, and I promise to be faithful to my country in future. Signed Philip Kinsella. Baltinglass, February.” Inscribed in ink, “1882”. Letterpress in black on lilac paper. Condition: A few holes, edge tears, folded, fresh colour, very good.
