Estimate €60-€80 (approx £50-£70) Click here for more images and to bid on this lot 120 120A 1914-1918War Medal and Victory Medal to Irishman in Canadian Infantry and 1939-46 Irish Emergency Service medal etc. WWI medals Issued to 3082072 Private T J Sullivan, and Irish Emergency Service Local Security Service Medal with one bar, believed to be to the same recipient, Timothy Sullivan of Adrigole, Co. Cork. Accompanied by Princess Mary Christmas 1914 gift tin (with 1915 card) and an empty cartridge case KN 14 VII. By descent to the present owner. Condition: War Medal lacking ribbon, 1915 greetings card soiled, otherwise fine. The 24th Battalion (Victoria Rifles), Canadian Expeditionary Force , was an infantry battalion during the Great War. The 24th Battalion was authorised on 7 November 1914 and embarked for Great Britain on 11 May 1915, arriving in France on 16 September 1915, where it fought as part of the 5th Infantry Brigade, 2nd Canadian Division in France and Flanders until the end of the war. The 24th Battalion was disbanded on 15 September 1920. It would appear that Timothy Sullivan had emigrated to Canada but returned to Ireland after the war and served in the LSF during World War II. Embroidered memorial panel for a German casualty and a terracotta relief of Friedrich Engels. The memorial includes two photographs of the soldier and is framed, 21 by 17 inches, the Engels relief is 6 inches in diameter. Condition: Very good, frame distressed.
