58 35 Eileen Murray (1885-1962) WOMAN AND CHILD BY THE SEA SHORE oil on board signed in monogram lower right 9.75 by 13.25in. (24.8 by 33.7cm) Frame size: 16 by 19.5in. (41 by 50cm.) Born at Templemore, Co. Cork, the daughter of Col. Chester, Eileen Murray studied at Newlyn under Stanhope Forbes, whose influence can be seen in much of her work, including lot 37, Gathering Kelp on a Sea Shore, Achill. After marrying Major F. S. J. Murray, she moved to India, returning to Ireland in 1920 to Mosstown House, Kenagh, Co. Longford.
