Provenance: The Collection of actress Siobhán McKenna (1923-1986); Thence by descent This portrait dates to 1957 when Fianna Fáil won a general election under Eamon de Valera’s leadership. De Valera was then 75 and remained as Taoiseach for only two years due to failing health. He was elected President in 1959, and served two terms. until 1973. He died in 1975.
