Provenance: By descent from the artist to the previous owner; Private collection From a folio of 58 sketches and studies. Elder brother of Andrew Nicholl, William was born in Belfast in 1794. He was engaged in business, and as an amateur enjoyed a high reptation as a landscape painter. He was a Member of the Association of artists in Belfast.
