(55.9 by 40cm) Excellent condition. This artwork was part of the response of several of the finest visual artists in Ireland to a selection of stories/essays in the anthology: From the Republic Conscience (Liberty Press, 2009). Barrie Cooke has responded to ‘Learning to Grieve for our Enemies’, Hugo Hamilton’s interpretation of Article 27. Hugo writes of the personal reconciliation he has made between his Irish and German grandfathers, both combatants in WorldWar I, both casualties. He wonders will it ever be possible for the British to commemorate their dead alongside the German dead in one single act of remembrance. €100-€150 (£90-£130 approx.)
