Provenance: Gifted by the artist to the previous owner; Thence by descent Frances Biggs played violin with the RTÉ Symphony Orchestra for 40 years. In 1963 she illustrated Moussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition for RTE. She began drawing and painting after she married stone sculptor Michael Biggs (1928-1993). During her retirement Biggs began to concentrate on making tapestries and stained glass works. She drew inspiration from her love of music. Biggs visualised different colours for different instruments and sounds. She was commissioned for many major stained glass projects including; St. Macartan’s Cathedral and Gonzaga College Chapel. €1,000-€1,500 (£860-£1,290 approx.)
