Includes photocopy of Operation Motorman 0001 hours - 2000 hours stamped “Restricted”, concerning the taking of “Free Derry” by the army, 31 July 1972, 1974 letter concerning prison officers signed Merlyn (Rees), Secretary of State, 1989 handwritten letters (2) from Katherine Hill of Amnesty International and typed letter from George Robertson MP concerning the killing of IRA suspects at Gibraltar, 1980 handwritten letters (2) from Dr John Oliver to Hennessy concerning Brian Faulkner, etc. 8 original documents, three copies and 8 copies of news cuttings related to Windlesham’s Report on the Gibraltar killings. Port Laoise Prison, Éire Nua plaque signed by prisoners including Martin McGuinness, Joe Cahill and Gerry O’Hare. Painted wooden shield signed on reverse by over 30 prisoners. 12 by 11in. Large harp made by an IRA prisoner in Long Kesh Maze Prison. This attractive and well made harp, decorated with Celtic motifs was made by Noel McGeown, Prisoner No. 93, Hut 65/Cage23. 40 by 25in. (101.6 by 63.5cm) Condition: Excellent condition. Provenance: Gifted to the family of the present owner. Noel McGeown is presently a Sinn Féin Councillor for Loughside in the Craigavon Council, Co.
