30 19th Century 59 Circa 1840 Royal Crest from Enniskillen Courthouse. Made from wood and papier maché, this crest, with a queen’s crown, dates from Victoria’s reign and hung over the judge’s bench until 1966 when the building was renovated and this crest replaced. 27 by 34 by 2in. (68.6 by 86.4 by 5.1cm) Condition: A few small chips, about 5% paint loss, overall very good and attractive. Estimate €500-€700 (approx £430-£610) Click here for more images and to bid on this lot 59 60 1841 Indenture concerning the erection of a monument to John Philpot Curran and an 1897 Queen Victoria Diamond Jubilee medal. 1841 Indenture bewtween Archdeacon of Dublin, Dr John Torrens and John Finlay, Barrister, concerning the erection of a monument to John Philpot Curran in Saint Patrick’s Cathedral. With an outline drawing of the monument. The 60mm medal is struck in bronze, Victoria bust left - old head on obverse, young head on reverse. 24 by 26in. (61 by 66cm) Condition: Indenture folded, fine. Medal, good very fine. Two lengthy letters to the Free Church minister, Reverend G. Tullock at Scourie, Golspie, in Sutherland’s estate, concerning the failure of the potato crops and the government’s and his own assistance towards the affected tenants, as well as the famine generally in Scotland, Ireland and elsewhere in Europe. Pp12 and Pp8 including postmarked address panels. Fascinating contemporaneous manuscript from a landlord concerning the famine. 9 by 7in.
