54 20th Century 123 1914 (25 July) and 1921 (29 April) letters from Horace Plunkett to Bishop Benjamin Plunket, relating to the position of Ulster. 1914 letter asking are “The Protestants of Southern Ireland..... satisfied Ulster is serving us best by remaining out [of Home Rule for Ireland] because for every Protestant the papishes massacre in barbaric Ireland they will immolate two papishes in that modern Athens, Belfast”. 1921 with a mimeograph and a printed pamphlet “Memorial of Certain Irishmen to.... David Lloyd George MP, Prime Minister” containing The Irish Dominion League’s proposals for limited independence for Ireland as a dominion, which Plunkett commends to the Bishop, adding that he has the support of “R.C. Bishop D. Kelly” . Much interesting content. Letters 1pp and 2pp, each, mimeograph 2pp, pamphlet 3pp. Sizes are mostly about 10.50 by 7.50in. The Irish National Volunteers badge with two others. (3) Buttonhole badge, also two Fianna Fail badges - button hole and pinback, all enamelled brass. Condition: Good fine to very fine. Yeats to Mr Rutter of the Allied Artists Association, agreeing to lend him a block of his picture The Barrel Man with a brief resumé of his early artistic studies, in ink on headed paper with his address Red Ford House, Greystones, County Wicklow. Interesting letter written a month before the Easter Rising. 7 by 9in. (17.8 by 22.9cm) Condition: Folded in 6, with slight splitting , very good. ADD NOTE??
