On one occasion he broke into Donleavy’s cottage at Kilcoole where he found Donleavy’s first draft of The Ginger Man in which he made corrections and added texts. Behan added ”This book of yours is going to go around the world and beat the bejesus out of the Bible.” Behan wrote. At first, Donleavy was incensed by Behan’s edits. But in time he came to appreciate his changes and accepted many of them. And in the coming decades, the first half of Behan’s prophecy was proven correct. €1,500-€2,000 (£1,290-£1,720 approx.)
