Hoffman (1924-2013) worked in the State Department, in the Foreign Service and purchased much of his art collection during that time. He travelled around the world extensively. He was involved with the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati, Cincinnati Art Museum, and Indianapolis Art Museum.
