The tangram is a dissection puzzle consisting of seven flat shapes, called tans, which are put together to form shapes. These puzzles have been the object of interest for artists and designers who have used the principles of the game to sharpen the powers of observation through the discovery of resemblances between geometric and natural forms and as atool for abstraction.
