F. ). 1836 Engraved map, coloured in outline, 80 by 63cm, on paper, on two sheets, mounted on linen and folding to 8vo, tipped into the original calf-backed plain cloth boards, with leather label, gilt, wanting the cloth ties: in very good state. Also (1) EUROPE, CENTRAL, MAP, 1824 : - Weiland ( Carl F. ). Attractive engraved map, 83 by 69cm, on paper, dissected and mounted on linen and folding to 8vo, with the contemporary signature ‘Lord Bloomfield’: in nice state. (2) EUROPE, MAP, 1843. Map of the Central States of Europe, situate between France and Russia, describing their new limits conformably with the definitive treaty of peace, signed at Paris, November 20th 1815. Price twenty shillings plain. 1480 x 1820 A very large and detailed map of Ireland, including geological and navigational information. Published in 6 separate sheets available flat or dissected on linen. They were sold in black and white, coloured by county or coloured geologically. The example here is coloured by county and has been dissected and mounted on linen and the six sheets come with their own marbled slip case. Close examination under the colouring will reveal the dotted lines used when they were coloured geologically. At bottom of the map is a facsimile signature, Dublin March 28th 1839. Richard Griffith. There also appears a large list, in five parts, of References and Authorities together with the following note: The Map was constructed by order of the Government for the specific purposes of the Railway Commission - The Commissioners have caused it to be Engraved and Published in the hope it may prove of some general utility but it must not be considered as aiming at minuteness or accuracy of Detail. (even in those days engineers were covering themselves). The note is signed in facsimile by Thos. A. Larcom, Lieut. R. Engr. Each sheet measures approx 740 x 610, the overall size being.
