6 2 Hannah Ní Mhaonaigh DIGGING Hand tufted in pure wool. Unique. Signed on label on reverse. 71 by 51in. (180 by 130cm.) Hannah Ní Mhaonaigh is a Dublin-based artist. She creates work using oil, acrylic, and water-based paint on various surfaces. Ní Mhaonaigh’s playful use of materials/processes enables colour, shape, and texture to be the primary driving force within her work. The titling of her work is an essential part of the process, considered an attempt to grab hold of these abstracted elements by the tufts of their tails. These shapes and forms, which reveal themselves within her work, have become almost an excavation of fictional artefacts or remains.
