McLoughlin’s primary subject matter is portraiture and urban landscape. He is represented by the Molesworth Gallery in Dublin and has had several solo shows with them among other galleries - including the J Cacciola Gallery, New York - since 2004. He has featured in numerous group exhibitions, notably at the National Portrait Gallery in London, Grayson Perry’s Art Club, Bristol Museum & Art Gallery (2021), National Gallery of Ireland, RUA, Art Miami, Art Toronto, King’s Palace London and the RHA Annual Exhibition, where he won the Niccolo D’Ardia Caracciolo RHA Gold Metal in 2013 and showed as an invited artist in 2016. His work is included in a large number of prestigious collections nationally and internationally. In autumn 2021 two works by McLoughlin entered the collection of the National Gallery of Ireland.
