106 History 197 [1916]. Circa 1900. Tyler’s shoe shop, North Earl Street architect’s drawing with photographs. Half inch to twelve inch scale drawings of shop front, with reprints of advertisement and photographs. A unique record of one of the buildings destroyed by shelling from HMS Helga in the River Liffey during the 1916 Rising. 15 by 25in. (38.1 by 63.5cm) Condition: Attractively framed and glazed. This is one of the original architectural drawings for the Tylers and Sons flagship store in Dublin City Centre. This building was opposite the GPO and was totally destroyed during the Easter Rising. It is a hugely historical drawing as this building was fronting onto both Sackville Street and North Earl Street. As a result of the Irish Rebellion the document is rare and historical in content.
