AWhaling Cruise To Baffin’s Bay and three others of Polar interest by the same author. AWhaling Cruise to Baffin’s Bay, 1875 dedicated to to my friend Sir Henry Gore Booth “I dedicate this narrative of the cruise of The “Isbjorn” in pleasant remembrance of our companionship in the Artic Seas”; Polar Reconnaissance F.R.G.S 2nd 1881; The World’s Great Explorers - John Franklin, 1891; and The Arctic Campaign of 1879 In The Barents Sea, 1880 paper to the RGS including map. Condition: A Polar Reconnaissance has distressed binding and lacks a plate, otherwise very good. Albert Markham and Gore Booth were sailing and shooting companions. AWhaling Cruise to Baffin’s Bay is dedicated to Gore Booth (of Lissadell, Sligo, father of Constance Markievicz). Markham was on the search of the ‘lost’ Franklin ship. He was a cousin of Clements Markham, head of the Royal Geographic Society, and later held that position himself.
