230 Advertising 449 Aer Lingus By Air From Lourdes poster. ‘Ireland By Air From Lourdes $85.30 23 Day Return Aer Lingus Irish Airlines.’ Irish landscape painting signed ‘Guus Melai ‘54’ 40 by 25in. (101.6 by 63.5cm) Condition: Very good, 1 inch and 1.5 inch tears at right, few small edge tears. Guus Melai (died in 2000) was one of a number of Dutch graphic artists recruited by Aer Lingus and the Irish Tourist Board in the 1950s. Others were Piet Sluis, Jan de Foun. Gerrit van Geldren and Bert van Embden. He produced some outstanding posters for both organisations.
