78 History 150 1900 (10 December) ticket for a lecture by Maud Gonne, and ‘The Last Proclamation’ in an American paper, June 1916. The lecture for the Liverpool Celtic Literary Society, entitled ‘Irishmen in the British Army. The Irish World And American Industrial Liberator with Pearse’s last proclamation on 28 April 1916. 3 by 4.50in. (7.6 by 11.4cm) Condition: Ticket is fine, newspaper missing first 6 pages, folded, edge tears, good. Home Rule cartoon by DavidWilson (1873- 1935) Watercolour and ink, inscribed ‘to Mrs George Wilson, Sept 1907’, signed lower left. Shows an ‘Irishman’ hobbled by Convention Vote with obstacles ‘Irish Council Bill and Devolution on a winding path to Home Rule. Scarce original artwork. 9 by 10.50in. (22.9 by 26.7cm) Condition: Fine, framed and glazed. Between 1900 and 1933, Wilson - born in County Tyrone and educated in Belfast - contributed 55 cartoons to Punch. He was the chief cartoonist for The Graphic from 1910 to 1916. He was also published in the London Opinion, The Sketch, The Star, Temple Magazine, Life, Tatler, The Passing Show and The World and Pan.
