Apparently from the visitors book at King’s Head Inn, handwritten by Daniel O’Connell that Mrs O’Connell and he ‘were very comfortably entertained at this inn’. Includes reference to the Whigs opposing a grant to Maynooth (presumably the Roman Catholic College). ‘You cannot know from the Press the depth of Irish discontent, the country is utterly changed. its hatred of English rule is military & practical, not whining & sentimental as it was’.
