Apparently from the visitors book at King’s Head Inn, handwritten by Daniel O’Connell that Mrs O’Connell and he ‘were very comfortably entertained at this inn’. Two other guests entries, including Richard FitzGerald of Adare on reverse. 4.50 by 4.50in. (11.4 by 11.4cm) Condition: Couple of contemporaneous ink blots, very good. Includes reference to the Whigs opposing a grant to Maynooth (presumably the Roman Catholic College). ‘You cannot know from the Press the depth of Irish discontent, the country is utterly changed. its hatred of English rule is military & practical, not whining & sentimental as it was’. Signed by Davis and completely in his own hand. Rare. 7.50 by 4.50in. (19.1 by 11.4cm) Condition: Very good. Accompanied by a handrwitten transcription.
